This existence of this bylaw has been kept secret from The National Arts Club membership. It is not included in the formal printed set of club bylaws (click here for bylaws). Passed in 1989 by the Board (Aldon took power in 1985), it assures Board members and club officers, especially Aldon James, that they will have access to all the assets of the National Arts Club (real estate, art, crafts, cash, etc.) for the purpose of any legal defense costs that may arise from their "... efforts and actions occurred during the usual and customary activities..." If legally valid, the secret bylaw would allow Aldon James (as well as the close circle within the Aldon/Leitner administration) to use the entire club's assets to pay lawyers to defend him in court against any and all charges arising from any act he deems committed in the name of The National Arts Club.
